Good Afternoon Stamford Hornets...

It's -25 degrees outside with a windchill of -35.  Hopefully you are all bundled up under that nice cozy warm blanket while reading this little message from your favourite.... ME... Baillie!!!  lol!!!

This week we say goodbye to the Junior Girls' Volleyball team.  Their season ended with their final league game against the
E.L. Crossley Cyclones.  The girls' worked very hard this season.  They learnt a new volleyball system, increase upon their volleyball skills and had a lot of fun playing with new friends.  The girls' would like to thank the three loveable coaches Mrs Au, Ms. Di Santo and Mrs. McBurney for all their help and dedication to the sport.  Thank you as well for organizing the volleyball swag.  The clothing is so warm and amazing!

The swim team headed to Brock this past Wednesday for this years' SOSSA Swim Meet.  Some of the team members had individual personal best times, but not enough to move on to OFSAA.  The team would like to thank their coaches Mr. Bishop, Mrs. Piovesana, and Mrs. Zizian for dedication, coaching, and that all that driving to the Boys' and Girls' club on Tuesday's and Thursday's.  They are looking forward to next years' season.

It's with great sadness to say goodbye to a dedicated coach, Mr. Bishop.  He has been coaching the Stamford hornets swim team for the past 7 years.  He came on board coaching when his first son Kevin was swimming for the hornet team.  He continued to coach the team when his two other kids, Kendra and Kurtis also swam under his direction.  He continued to coach two years after his last child graduated.  That's how much he loved our beloved Hornet's swim team.  His dedication and knowledge of the sport is priceless!  Mr. Bishop we love will miss you immensely!

Congratulations go out to the Stamford Wrestling team who completed at the Zone 3 Wrestling Meet on Thursday at Sir Winston Churchill.  The Boys' team placed 3rd, the Girls' team placed 6th and as a combined teams the Hornets placed 4th overall.  Well done Hornets!  The whole team qualifies for SOSSA next Thursday at Thorold Secondary School.

Below are the results of Thursday's meet:

Doug Rose &Sam Tufford - Silver
Austin McNeil, Dillon McRae, and Chris Loach - Bronze
Tristan Palser, Shaniqua Goodridge, Romaeo Carbone, and Tanisha Burch - 4th
